The mayoress of Palma greets the EMT web page |

The EMT, the Municipal Transport Company, faces the challenge of being a key element in the government's efforts to provide citizens with a higher quality standard of living. Any city wishing to be accessible to all requires the cooperation of the varied parties involved, not least of which are the means of public transport.

The fact that many companies move to the outskirts and outlaying industrial estates has made access to an efficient public transport even more important. In recent years the city has developed and changed in such a way that it is no longer compact with everything within easy reach. People need to move about more as a result of this and in this context access to efficient transport is a right which citizens have and constitutes a key factor in terms of social cohesion as well as being essential for economic development. The task of ensuring that the city adapts to people and becomes more pleasant to move about in while at the same time preserving sustainability , requires the cooperation of multiple bodies and organizations including institutions and the Public Administration. A coordinated effort on the part of all involved will produce an apt strategy conductive to an increase in the standard of living, and it is within this framework that cooperation from all who work at EMT is fundamental so that the company may develop even further and continue to project into the future making our lives easier. Aina Calvo. Mayoress of the city of Palma.
